grace

Ever found a quote or verse of Scripture just when you need it? Likely it's no accident:) Recently a friend emailed me this quote and it meant so much to me I thought I'd share it with you. Her timing was perfect.

I am no longer anxious about anything, as I realize that He is able to carry out His will for me. It does not matter where He places me, or how. That is for Him to consider, not me, for in the easiest positions He will give me grace, and in the most difficult ones His grace is sufficient. ~Hudson Taylor

Do you have a favorite Scripture verse or quote that means a great deal to you? Please leave it here ~ you never know who you'll bless in the process! Happy Friday!

  1. Like you just blessed me? So glad you shared that, Laura. That theme of trusting implicitly in His plan, His grace, His goodness, has been swirling around in my soul for weeks now. May you and Roxie and Cass (and your real life guys, too!) have a blessed weekend!

  2. Wow, thank you so much for sharing that quote, Laura - means a lot! Just what I needed to hear...I love how God gives us what we need before we even realize it. :)

  3. Psalm 37:4 "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart."

I found that verse when I was going through a trying time as a teenager, and have claimed it ever since. Like Lori, everything I've been reading lately has touched on faith, God's plan, God's grace. Stepping out on Faith. Living with Passion.

Thank you, Laura, for encouraging me today!

  4. So many favorites but here's a recent one by Martyn Lloyd Jones: "The worst thing that can happen to a person is to succeed before they are ready."

  5. I needed that. I'm anxious about many things. Thank you, Laura.

“Fear never wrote a symphony or poem, negotiated a peace treaty, or cured a disease. Fear never pulled a family out of poverty or a country out of bigotry. Fear never saved a marriage or a business. Courage did that. Faith did that. People who refused to consult or cower to their timidities did that. But fear itself? Fear herds us into a prison and slams the doors. Wouldn’t it be great to walk out?”

  6. Oh Laura, that quote truly is a beautiful comfort and I'm so blessed it blessed you, my friend :) The Lord's timing is always perfect and like His Word says, a word spoken in due season is good, indeed!

It was Leslie Ludy who introduced me to this little gem. Actually, the Ludy's named their first son Hudson, in honor of this amazing missionary!

I tend to be fearful over certain things, specifically the unknown and having to emerge from my comfort cocoon. So the Lord brought this verse into my life a few years ago and now, when I feel the fear begin to rise, its one of the first scriptures I run to. It's a very true and very powerful promise to stand on...

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee." (Isaiah 26:3)

And I found this quote to be VERY true. I guess this was the reason King David said of the Lord, "early will I seek Thee"...

"He who runs from God in the morning will scarcely find Him the rest of the day." ~John Bunyan

Praying you have a beautiful and peaceful weekend, my friend!!

    Blessings,

  7. I just remembered a quote that I thought would be very fitting to share here, since we all love romance so much ;)

I stumbled upon a random blog one day and found this quote. Its part of a very short love letter, but volumes were spoken in just a few words. The letter was actually the ONLY thing posted on the whole blog. There was no way to comment on it and the person didn't even leave their name, just signed it "one who delights"- and he truly delighted in the beauty of this woman. But I think it's that air of mystery that makes it even more romantic *blissful sigh*

"With each passing year you grow ever more beautiful: sublimely, exquisitely beautiful. Your beauty is both immediately striking and unfathomable. It is always breathtaking. It cannot be greater: and then tomorrow it is." ~AU

Now, if that doesn't make ya swoon, I don't know what will?! :D

    Blessings,
    Amanda Stanley

  8. Amanda, Thanks for sharing that. It is one of my favorite verses, too. Isn't it comforting to know God knows all our infirmities and others struggle with the same things as we do. God is so good.

  9. I actually found a verse earlier this week. Last Saturday, my home county suffered a catastrophic flash flood. My family is fine, thank God, but I've been quite upset by the flood this week. On Wednesday I was using facebook's status shuffle application, and came across the following verse:

Do not be afraid or discouraged because of what you see before you. For the battle is not yours, but God's. 2 Chronicles 20:15.

In that moment, I really needed to read that.

  10. “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. … And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

    I Corinthians 13:4-8, 13 NIV

  11. You have it! Laurentiziu wrote me just this morning. She put together a slide show of my work and wanted permission to use it on Youtube. This was her quote in her letter... At least I hope it was hers. I think it applies to all of life. Life is a collaboration between God and man...

" Art is a collaboration between God and the artist, and the less the artist does the better." Laurentziu Ro

  12. I have so many favorite scriptures and quotes. I have the one Regina gave on a journal that I will use in the future.
A quote I have been thinking of lately is, “The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it”, which is a Chinese proverb.
And a scripture I have thought about lately is,"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging...", which is in Psalm 46.
I have a little spiral notebook that I use to record the scriptures that I think might be beneficial to me in the future. I got that idea from Beth Moore, either in her blog or one of her books.
    Have a great day!

  17. Julia,
Oh, this is so true! In terms of writing, I think that is why I had a 40 year apprenticeship. The Lord knew I wasn't ready. I think I must be a hard case as some folks get there in 4-5 years! And I am still an apprentice, ever learning. But this wonderful quote applies to all of life, I think. Bless you so very much!

  18. Britt,
That is so moving! And one I've never before heard. I'm going to post that near my writing chair. I, too, tend to be anxious about many things so I can truly understand your struggle. Often I have to push myself and do the very thing I'm afraid of in order to push past it. But like your beautiful quote says, it always is so freeing. Bless you so much.

Another example of how God meets us at our moment of need ~ thanks for sharing that. My mom just told me yesterday about the devestation in Pike County. Homes swept from foundations, etc. So many people affected. I've been praying for your mom and dad and also the resisdents there. I'm so sorry it happened. I don't watch the news so had to hear it second-hand. Bless you and them, especially as you celebrate with your mom on Tuesday.

  23. Laurie,
Oh my! What a quote! I really needed that this morning as I face another huge hurdle (several, actually). When we realize it's God in us who creates the art, we can rest in Him. Bless you, bless you, bless you.

  24. Adrienne,
Your verses/quotes are beautiful and so wise. Thank you for each one! It's neat to think that we both use Beth Moore's memory verse idea, etc. I learned that from her too and have them on little index cards ~ so handy that I even carry them in my purse to look at in idle moments, etc. I have one sitting here by my writing chair. I'm going to copy everyone's here in it for future. Bless you so much.

  25. Kav,
Corrie Ten Boom was such an amazing woman. I'm always moved by her story of forgiveness with the Nazi guard later in her life. I must need this quote you posted as it's the second time I've come across it this week:) Corrie is one of the people I'm most looking forward to meeting in heaven! Besides you, of course, Kav!
