One of the best things about being a writer/author is giving away what I love best - books! Thanks to Dana Brown's generosity, the winner of The Heart's Desire and The Heart Broken is...Regina Merrick!
Congratulations, Regina! I'll mail those out tomorrow. Happy reading:)
Please stay tuned as I'm going to be giving away copies of Courting Morrow Little very soon. Everyone who left comments this week or henceforth are entered. Bless you for stopping by and sharing a love of reading, surely one of God's best gifts!
A book is a garden, an orchard, a storehouse, a party, a company by the way, a counselor, a multitude of counselors. ~Henry Ward Beecher
I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library. ~Jorge Luis Borges
A good book is the purest essence of a human soul. ~Thomas Carlyle
Yay Regina!! I cant' wait for you to read the books. I hope you get as much enjoyment out of them as I did writing them!! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks to all who came to visit. It was truly a pleasure to meet all of you. Hopefully we'll see each other again soon!
God's many blessings upon you all!
Thanks so very much, Dana, for guesting here and providing these books of your heart:) Keep writing and join us here whenever you can. May God bless you abundantly!
ReplyDeleteI Love Books and live where the Book "To Kill A Mockingbird" was written by Harper Lee (and my husband used to play on her front porch before she was a writer) She is in the nursing home in town now and they say she is a mean old nasty lady and won't talk to anyone except other famous writers...I know that will never happen to you Laura (smile)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Regina!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for offering such great book giveaways! (Hope I have a chance to win your book, Laura. I'm excited for it's release!) ;)
~Amber
Amanda, You are so welcome. Book giveaways are such fun. I'm looking forward to giving Morrow away soon - at least 4 copies for the month of June of July, depending on when I get my author copies. This week I'lle be giving away a hot off the press copy from a bestselling author you may love...will post that tomorrow! Blessings on your week! And you are entered for all drawings:)
ReplyDeleteNancy, That must be so fascinating to live in the same place as Harper Lee (and sad to hear the rest of her story). I know they have a big festival down your way for To Kill a Mockingbird.
ReplyDeleteLove the strawberry title of your post! Will be over to your blog shortly:) Consider yourself entered in the book drawings!
Yay, Regina!
ReplyDeleteA book transports you to another time, another place, and into the mind, heart and soul of the one who wrote it. I think Beecher’s description of a book was very accurate. You plant in a garden, reap in an orchard and gather into the storehouse. That’s the reading process in a nutshell! Words, thoughts and ideas are planted, reaped and stored away. That’s why we quote our favorite authors :) Often times they are our counselors and the company we keep. We take their words to heart and go back and revisit them again and again. The life of a book is not found in its parchment and ink, it’s found in its author! Why else would a good book be “the purest essence of a human soul”? An author (well, a good author anyway) writes their convictions, what they know, what they love, and their pages are truly "filled with the breathings of their heart" (Wordsworth)! A reader (well, a good reader anyway) takes away a little piece of the author with them, long after the book is closed and placed on the shelf. Remember, we fall in love with characters, but we “quote” authors ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd I imagine that it’s true, “Paradise will be a kind of library,” because everyone there, from Genesis to Revelation, will have a story to share!!
Thanks Laura for another awesome blog, great quotes, and a shot at winning Morrow :)
Blessings,
Amanda Stanley
Wonderful thoughts, Amanda! I love quotes, too - oh, that Wordsworth is GREAT! I've not heard that one before. Bless you for that. I've often thought heaven will be filled with books (all perfect, no editing required). Oh my, I could go on all day... Praying you have a great week - and all the weeks leading up to your birthday!
ReplyDeleteCarla, Your graciousness means so much. Thanks for stopping here. You are one busy lady!
The exact quote is "Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart." ~ William Wordsworth. LOL, I hadn't heard of it either till a few months ago. I thought it was so beautiful that I printed it out, framed it, and put it on my desk :)
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you so much for the birthday blessings Laura! I pray the Lord will bless your weeks too!!!
Blessings,
Amanda Stanley
Dear Amanda, That quote is now going on my desk, too! Bless you bunches!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait until your next book comes out. Thanks for the comment on my blog, I am trying to get more followers and did good with the blogathon (whatever) a few weeks ago, I love to review books.
ReplyDeleteThanks again Laura, you are great
I'm so excited, and can't WAIT to get the books! Thank you so much, Dana!
ReplyDeleteLaura - got your bookmarks in the mail TODAY - and I can't wait to read COURTING MORROW LITTLE. The cover is just too delicious!
God bless!
Regina
Hi Edna,
ReplyDeleteI've just done some blog hopping and visited your blogs. Your recipe one always makes my mouth water! All that wonderful southern fare! Your book reviews are so welcome, too. I've found that while many people don't comment, many do read posts. So keep up the fine work! I'll be back:)
Please consider yourself entered in the drawings here. Bless you.
YAY! Bookmark delivery:) That was fast, Regina! Love your wording for Morrow's cover - "delicious" is perfect. I mailed Dana's books to you today so you should see those soon. What a JOY to mail stuff to Kentucky! Thanks so much for entering. I have another giveaway this week so consider yourself entered in that one, too:)
ReplyDeleteCongrats Regina!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the Borges' quote, I've often said that when we get to heaven, you'll be able to find me in the library.
Heaven MUST have endless books. What a grand thought. Can't wait! We'll probably find all our favorite authors there - in the spirit:)
