Heartfelt thanks to Casey for giving me such a thoughtful award on the day my blog turned two, unbeknownst to her! So now I get to share the joy and follow the rules:) I'm supposed to pass the award on to 15 other bloggers who inspire me: Lori , Carla, Linda, Ruth, Heather, Kristen, Britt,
Edna, Mary, Keli, Lisa... I know I have more to go but there are so many great blogs out there it isn't possible to name them all. There are some, like my buddies over on Inkspirational Messages that I can't link to from blogger but are found in the margin here. And as I write this I'm thinking of Carrie and Laurie Pace and Arlene and Suzanne and a bunch of others who inspire me on a regular basis. And then there are those like Adge and Michelle who don't blog but I wish they did! Oh my, and then there's Myrna:) I promise to continue the list later on this week:)
In keeping with the blog award, I'm supposed to list 7 things about myself. So here goes:
1. I'd rather be a concert violinist than a novelist (but there must be a very good reason the Lord made me the latter).
2. I LOVE Bible studies (currently doing one called Seeking Him).
3. I rarely watch t.v. or movies (would rather be reading/writing).
4. Favorite foods are garlic cheese grits, pasta, chocolate, and Costco's risotto.
5. I try to walk 3 miles a day.
6. If I could be a character in a novel it would be Jane Eyre or Christy. (And you thought I'd say Lael!?).
7. I have many fears which I have to confess and give to the Lord on an ongoing basis.
I'd love to hear 7 things about you. Or even one or two! I love my readers and am thankful to count you among them!
I can't believe you wouldn't want to be a novelist! I am so thankful you are though! God knows what He is doing. :)
ReplyDeleteaw, thanks for including me in your blog list! I love little incidental facts, especially about what book character you would be! I think I'd be Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice....or anne shirley of the Anne of Green Gables books :) except I would have loved my red hair ;)
ReplyDeleteCasey, You are such an encouragement to me. I have you in the margin of my blog and wanted to say more in this post about you but I have been sidetracked majorly by my hubby and boys on spring break today! Thanks for the great award and for encouraging me to write my heart out. YES, God knows what he is doing. I might have made a very bad violinist:) As it is, I can't think of anything that gives me more pleasure than writing, other than my precious family/friends and my spiritual life.
ReplyDeleteBless you bunches!
Heather, I LOVE Elizabeth from P&P - and you'd love the vintage copy I have with antique illustrations and all:) We're on the same page, no pun intended, about the red hair! If I could I would have been a red-headed, violin-playing, novelist:) Oh, and Ann Shirley is a fine pick also! Fun to read your comments here!
ReplyDeleteI want to thank you sweet lady for the award

Edna, You are so welcome, dear friend! I love the book reviews you've been doing on your blog! Readers like you are THE reason I write. Bless you so much!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I've thought about making a blog but every time I think about it I know I wouldn't be able to keep up with it. Sometimes I don't know how everyone puts so much into their blogs. I am content with writing reviews though on Amazon and Christianbook.com. I always liked Jane Eyre too. I thought she was a remarkable character. My hobbies that I enjoy on a regular basis are painting and taking pictures. I struggle with your #7 as well.
ReplyDeleteAdge, Personally I think painting and picture-taking sound much more interesting than blogging. And if I haven't said it before I really, really appreciate your book reviews on the sites you mentioned. I wish more readers left reviews! I'm learning that those very reviews are often the first place a potential reader looks. I know I do. Glad to know we're Jane Eyre fans. Remarkable is certainly the right word! Even thinking of it makes me want to read it again. Thanks for being honest about #7. I wondered why I wrote that but glad to know I'm not the only one.
ReplyDeleteLaura, I got so excited about getting this award that I raced over to my blog to blog about it, and forgot to say thank you!
ReplyDeleteSo, thank you for including me in your list of beautiful people. You, my friend, have such a beautiful heart and spirit. Thank you for sharing yourself with us here!
You would be Jane Eyre? Such agony and ecstasy! I've never really considered which fictional character I would be (except for the ones I make up on my own!) Something to ponder...
Love you, friend!
~mary
Mary, Oh I can feel your excitement! That sure blesses me:) I've never gotten a blog award before and they sure are fun! Bless you for your very heartfelt comments. That spurs me on to keep blogging, dear friend!
ReplyDeleteOh Laura, thank you so much for including me in your list...that is so sweet, such a wonderful surprise!
ReplyDeleteLaura, congratulations on your well-deserved award. I'm honored you chose to share it with me.
ReplyDeleteI have very seriously considered starting a blog. I've not totally made up my mind, but of course I'll let you know if I start one.
ReplyDeleteI, for one am very glad you're an author.
Couple of things about me, I probably have the smallest hands you will ever see on an adult. Also, I am completely obsessed with figure skating, and have been for close to 20 years.
Thanks for including me, and congratulations!
Congrats on your award, as you truly have a beautiful blog and I thank you for for offering it to me along with the other beautiful bloggers!
ReplyDeleteSelfishly I must say I'm glad you're a novelist, as I probably would not have come to know you if you were a violinist. Although Paul is becoming famous in his own right, you may have too!
Although I'm not a published author yet, I do hope to be. I've been in ministry and that was always something I felt the Lord's leading in for my life. I believe that role is taking a turn toward using my spiritual gifts through story.
I've done professional interior decorating and love to draw out house plans, so if I had another occupation of my chosing I'd be an architect or residential designer.
I guess I'll blog to share some more about me things.
Ruth, You are so very welcome! Please keep posting those incredibly well done movie and book reviews:) You have a real gift!
ReplyDeleteYou are so welcome, Keli. I'll never forget having my first interview with you. Your blogs are really extra special. I love your new look over there!
ReplyDeleteMichelle, That's fascinating about your hands. I've always wanted small hands and feet - not my size 10's! I bet you watched all the coverage of the winter Olympics this year. I sure did and figure skating in all its forms was my favorite. Heather here is also a huge fan:) If you start that blog, you'd better tell me!
ReplyDeleteCarla, I'm not at all surprised (but delighted) to learn about your interior design and architecture bent - you are into and good at so many things. That's one of the reasons I love your blog - always so interesting and filled with ministry and people. If we lived closer I would come to some of your events!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited to see what God has in store for your writing. Among other things!
Laura, I'm not sure where to put this, but I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed Frontiersman's Daughter. I started it yesterday and finished it today. I didn't want to put it down. You had me worried that I wasn't going to get my happy ending, but you came through for me. It was a wonderful story and will be a book that stays on my shelf to be read again and again.
ReplyDeleteGod bless, Kim (wakim98@yahoo.com)
Kim, I just sent you an email and wanted to acknowledge here how much it means to hear from readers like you. It is absolutely the BEST part of being an author. God is so good to give us good books and reading friends. Thanks so much for your gracious comments. They bring such JOY!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the award, Laura!
ReplyDeleteThe garlic cheese grits sound yummy. My list definitely includes chocolate, pasta with tomato sauce, cookies, salad, and, oh yeah, did I say chocolate? :)
Blessings,
Susan
Susan, I know you have a few awards of your own over your way:) And I think I will add a few of your likes to my list! Great to hear from you today! Ditto on the chocolate several times over!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your blog award, Laura. You deserve it! I am so grateful that you aren't a concert violinist!!!! (Is that selfish of me?) And what are garlic cheese grits???????? Here's my seven list:
ReplyDelete1. I'm a vegetarian
2. I LOVE figure skating too!!!!
3. I love to read (but shhh, that's a secret.)
4. I tried to mail myself to a popstar (in my youth, of course!)
5. I love dogs and have had a sheltie or two for more than twenty years now.
6. I'm scared of dead squirrels (it's a long and harrowing story)
7. I wish I could play the harp.
Kav, I love your list! And I chuckled at a couple:) Hats off to harps and shelties (but not dead squirrels). That even grosses me out! I could easily be a vegetarian, too, as I don't eat a lot of meat. But that would mean I would have to eat lots more grits- which are just stone-ground corn (very fine) and look like cream of wheat. You can eat plain with butter or load them up with garlic, cheese, and eggs like I do. Definitely a southern thing though my boys love them almost as much as I do.
ReplyDeleteSo good to hear from you! I always smile when you come by.
thanks Laura! You inspire me too. I always love reading about your little history facts and tidbits
ReplyDeleteand I love your list of things we didn't know about you. I have to say, that I'm glad that God directed you to be a writer!
I have never had grits but with garlic and cheese they sound more appetizing.
wish we lived close by, I love to go for walks!
Now I have to decide on 7 things about me to post at my blog...
Lisa, I'm so glad you saw your well-deserved award! I was supposed to notify folks but my time is so limited I decided to just let them stumble on it:) I'm hoping you are loving your new blog format! I am going there right now...
