love begins

Our 17th anniversary is Saturday and we're celebrating by going out to dinner and watching this movie, Love Begins. Randy will probably fall asleep on me as it's a romantic one but it looks quite good, don't you think? Anyway, here's hoping for 17 more wonderful years. And more movies like these:)

Have a blessed weekend...

And O happy day - I'm planning on watching Love Begins, as well!! I was so excited when Renee posted about these prequels! :D A couple of my friends and I are reserving the TV room in the dorm I live in so we can watch it Saturday night. ;) It airs at 9 here on the West Coast, right?

  19. Thanks so much for the good wishes everyone! I appreciate each one very much. It's funny when you look back as to what you remember. There was a high school football game going on next door during our wedding service so when we said our vows they cheered wildly;) People got so tickled at that. And that wedding dress I'm wearing is now rolled up in a bag in the garage! I worked 2 jobs to pay for it and now wonder what I ever saw in it;) But I do love my veil - it has a pearl headband - and is tucked away in our closet. Oh, those were the days...

Our pastor sent us a card this week which expresses marraige so well. It has a ripe pear on the front with Galatians 5:22 "Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control." Inside he wrote, "I believe one of God's best soils to grow His fruit is the soil of marraige. May your harvest give Him glory and you joy."

    Well said, Pastor Greg!

If any of you watch the movie - and yes, Amber, it's showing up as starting at 9pm as I was wanting to make sure, too - I'd love to hear what you thought! Looks like quite a hero to me;)

Thanks again for the wonderful comments. Bless you all!!

  21. Loree, YES, so happy! Randy was pale as a sheet, poor man, but I remember feeling wonderful. Happiness is the best cosmetic, so they say!

  22. Congratulations! How awesome. I'll have to check out the trailer when I have time. Any advice?

  23. Oh, Happy Anniversary Eve, my dear friend!! Seventeen years is a blessing from the Lord! Every time you've shared about your love story it has always encouraged and inspired me to trust God and wait for His perfect timing. May He bless you and Randy richly, drawing your hearts ever closer to each others and to His!! Praying your special day is as beautiful and memorable as you are :)

And thank you for letting me know about Love Beings! I've been so out of the loop lately I didn't even know this was coming on! Now my mom and I will have something sweet to watch tomorrow :)

    Blessings,
    Amanda

  24. Adrienne, Oh, such a good question. Let me think on it a bit. The first thing that comes to mind is to esteem the other as better than yourself, putting them first. Really, selfishness is the root of all evil, especially in marraige. Another is to laugh and have fun together. Oh, I could go on and on...

There's a book you won that should show up in your mailbox any day. Praying you like the story as much as I enjoyed writing it, dear reading friend:)!

  25. Amanda, SO happy you're here and got in on the movie fun. I wasn't going to post till Saturday and then thought nobody would see it as it would be about over! Let me know what you think if you have time:) And bless you for the well wishes. 17 years is a gift and I'm so thankful. One day I'll blog about my near disaster. But will save that for another post!

  26. First of all, a very happy anniversary to you and Randy! I hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow.

I laughed over what you wrote about your wedding dress being in garbage bags now. I love that it has sleeves. So few wedding dresses have sleeves now. :(

Also must agree with what Amanda has said about your story being very inspiring. :) One definitely must wait on God's timing.

    Have an absolutely wonderful day!

  27. Wishing you and Randy a happy anniversary! I hope the day is very special for you both.

  29. Happy Anniversary Laura & Randy! I hope your day is great and the next 17 years even better! Lots of love! :)

  30. Michelle,
I've been out of the bridal loop for so long but you're right - most gowns now DON'T have sleeves. And let me tell you, I'm not a sleeveless kind of gal. My upper arms...ugh. Yet look at what I'm wearing to St. Lou! Hmmmm.

Marraige is wonderful but work! But what isn't in this life, I guess... Feeling philosphical today - while canning beets, I might add:) I should be in a Kentucky kitchen.

Hope you enjoy the movie if you see it. Let me know!

  31. Carla, When I think of "real love" I think of you and Brad. Now THAT is a love story! Thx so much for the good wishes. I told Randy we'll never make it to our 50th as I was so old when I married him;)

  32. Kav,
I hope you can get the movie - I need to mention I checked the times on Hallmark and they've been changed! So now it's showing two times tonight/Saturday - from 6-8 and then 8-10. NOT 9pm as advertised. Plus they're having a sort of marathon of the earlier ones in the series before it today. I don't think I've seen but 3 or so myself.

Hope you're having a good fall day there - and your beautiful garden continues to delight you:)

  33. Rhonda,
So good to see you! I know you and Mark have been married even longer! And I have this terrible hankering for a hot dog - I am dying to know how it's going in that arena. Great, I'm sure! Prayers all the way! Love and miss you all...

  35. Congratulations! 17 years on the 17th! Hope you are having a great date night!
P.S. I think your dress is lovely! If I get married someday, my dress will have sleeves – lace I think!

  36. Happy 17th Wedding Anniversary Laura! I loved seeing your wedding picture! What a wonderful man your husband must be to inspire the sweet love you portray in your novels. I will be teaching the creation of Adam & Eve tomorrow morning in our 2nd grade Sunday School class. The first marriage on earth, one woman for one man, from the hands of God. Literally. I love it. A good marriage is precious.

  37. Carrie, Thanks so much for the award! I will be right over:) Bless you for thinking of me. And see you in St. Lou!

  38. Jennie,
Oh...lace sleeves sound wonderful:) Wedding days are one of God's best gifts - they really are kind of magical when His blessing rests upon it. I hope you have one coming, too!

Thanks so much for your kind comments. It's wonderful to see you here!

  39. Maggie Ann, 2nd grade is such a precious age - one of my favorites:) I know it will be a lesson to remember. And thanks so much for the gracious comments about my Randy and my stories. He really does inspire a great deal of what I write. Bless you for sensing that and saying so. Praying your Sunday is blessed!

  40. Just wanted to say the sequel to Love Begins airs October 1st at the same time. I'll post the trailer for the movie a couple of days before. It looks so good - but heartbreaking, too! Hope those who watched last night enjoyed. Randy stayed awake and enjoyed the whole thing;)

  41. Glad Randy enjoyed the movie! : )

I thought it was great, too! Anthoney even watched the last 1/2 hour with me. It's not his "cup of tea," but he didn't complain, lol.

Hope you're having a great anniversary weekend, Laura!

    Hugs,
    Michelle

  42. Michelle, I thought it was very refreshing - wholesome and sweet! Glad you liked it, too. Since I rarely watch tv, it was quite a treat:) I loved the hero and especially Cassie. Stay tuned for the sequel on Oct. 1... The trailer looks terrific and I'll post here when I get back.

Anthoney is a hero for watching with you! I think he and Randy must be a lot alike from what you've told me:) Keepers, both of them!!

  44. Renee, I so appreciate your good wishes for travel and all else:) You're a keeper! I'm always surprised when Revell nominates one of my books and even more suprised when the final. But it's nice to be included that way and I'm looking forward to St. Lou. But even more excited to return and get back to my blogging friends and writing again! Have a wonderful week, dear friend.

  45. happy anniversary! our 17th was in may. 1994 must have been a good year for weddings!
looking at your photo from your wedding day was reminding me of someone. And then it hit me, you look like Lael from the cover of Frontiersmans Daughter! You were a beautiful bride, Laura!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Lisa, I'm smiling at your comments - love that you think I look like Lael. I've heard that before from quite a few people - my hair is almost as long;) But I have a couple of wrinkles and pounds dear Lael doesn't! The funny part is that hubs looks like the man on the front - or so people say! He chuckles at that.

Hope you and your family have a wonderful week ahead and that sunshine up here is shining on you after a week of rain!

  47. Oh, and HAPPY 17th to you and hubby, too!! That was a good year - I have several friends who married then, too:)

  49. Rel, Thanks so much for your kind thoughts. By the way, your name came up in St. Lou more than once:) I met an Australian writer who'd come all that way and was talking to her about you, then Karen Ball joined in. Wishing you had been there and trying to come up with a way to make it happen. Anyway, Karen is a HUGE fan of yours, she said. But I wasn't surprised as I am, too!
